Syncing to the Beat

December 12th, 2008 by Rob Strobbe | Filed under Video Tutorials.

Here’s a little tutorial from Youtube user Torley on how to sync your video to the beat of your music bed. You’ll need MixMeister BPM Analyzier or some other BPM analyzer if you don’t already know the BPM of your song. Unless you’re one of those talented people who can figure it out on your own.

In my opinion, it’s really not that hard. :) You drum along your keyboard and hit m on every beat.

If you’re like me, you might be off by a frame or two. In that case, you can use the numpad keys to move edit points forward or backwards by a frame… so do that until it sounds+looks right.

Hm, okay, well, some of us couldn’t keep a beat to save our lives. I’d be off by a frame or 30. ;) And for me, there are programs like BPM Analyzer. Like anything in Vegas, there’s more than one way to do this. Placing markers by ear is one way, and finding out the exact BPM (with some help from a computerized “friend”) and setting the ruler to that BPM is another.

Anyhow, on behalf of those with a better sense of rhythm (not me), thanks for the tip, Glenn!
